After announcing the hosting states for the KTM Australian Motocross Championship (AJMX) over the next three years last week, Motorcycling Australia (MA) has now confirmed the 2019 edition will take place at Gillman in South Australia on 28 September-5 October.

Gillman, a former regular venue in the MX Nationals series, is located 12 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD, making it an ideal location to host an event of the AJMX’s capacity.

“I’m ecstatic to bring AJMX back to SA again,” said promoter Mark Walmsley. “We’re going to make it huge and make it the best one in Australia from the last five years. Although it’s getting to a warmer time of year, we can handle it. We’ve got enough water and machinery to deal with the weather.

“We ran a state title a few weeks ago and did a lot of radio advertising and got great spectator numbers. I think the numbers will be huge for a national title like AJMX. If we can get kids there, maybe we can get more people on the track, especially because the juniors are the future of the sport.”

This year’s Australian Junior Motocross Championship is just over a week away, scheduled for 29 September–6 October at Penguin in Tasmania.
