RCH Soaring Eagle/Jimmy John’s/Suzuki Factory Racing’s Ken Roczen extended his advantage in the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at RedBud on Saturday with a 1-1 sweep.

Roczen won both motos over Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac to increase his points lead to 53 points, while second of the RCH runners Broc Tickle again finished on the podium.

“We’ve been doing good work over the whole year,” Roczen said. “I have to give it up to my team because I went from riding maybe the worst bike I’ve had all year, we made some changes, to the best bike I’ve had all year. We crushed it in that second moto and I couldn’t be happier right now.”

Tickle’s 3-4 got the better of Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha’s Justin Barcia’s 3-4 for the final podium place, while fifth overall bumped Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM) up to third in the standings.

In the 250 Class, Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Cooper Webb earned his second straight overall win by sweeping both motos, which ultimately moved him atop the championship standings.

Webb’s first-career double came on a day where previous red plate holder Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Joey Savatgy finished seventh overall after claiming second in moto one and then crashing heavily for 16th in the second.

Completing the round podium behind Webb was teammate Alex Martin, with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Zach Osborne finishing third overall.

Australia’s Luke Clout (MAD Racing Dirt Candy Suzuki) went 27-17 for 19th overall, while countryman Jackson Richardson (Honda) was a few positions behind in 22nd.

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will kick off the second half of the 2016 season next weekend with its anticipated return to New England at Southwick.
