Sport Integrity Australia has moved to confirm Jesse Dobson’s three-year ban from competition in accordance with Motorcycling Australia (MA) for violating the sport’s anti-doping regulations.

Dobson’s in-competition doping control test took place at last year’s Maitland round of the ProMX series, informed prior to Toowoomba that he had been placed under investigation.

The 27-year-old Queenslander has been absent from racing altogether since that point in June last year, but has indicated that he intends to return once his sanction concludes in mid-May of 2026.

Dobson had finished fourth in the 2022 Australian MX2 point standings and was fifth at the time of being investigated last season, five rounds into the 2023 series. He qualified quickest and won the second moto on his way to fourth overall at Maitland.

The complete statement from by Sport Integrity Australia is below:

Sport Integrity Australia today acknowledges the decision of Motorcycling Australia to impose a three-year ban on athlete Jesse Dobson for the presence and use of a prohibited substance.

Mr Dobson returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) from an In-Competition doping control test at the Pro MX Series in Maitland, NSW, on 7 May 2023, where the presence of GW1516 (GW501516) metabolite: GW1516-sulfoxide was detected.

It was determined that Mr Dobson used the prohibited substance GW1516 (GW501516) on and/or before 7 May 2023. GW1516, a S4 class Hormone and Metabolic Modulator, is classified as a Non-Specified Substance and is prohibited at all times under the 2023 Prohibited List.

Motorcycling Australia has imposed a three-year ban on Mr Dobson. His ban was reduced by 12 months following a full admission of the alleged anti-doping rule violations.

Mr Dobson is ineligible to participate in any sports that have adopted a World Anti-Doping Code compliant anti-doping policy until 7 May 2026. He is also not permitted to compete in a non-Signatory professional league or Event organised by a non-Signatory International Event organisation or a non-Signatory national-level Event organisation.
