Cairns Coconut Resort Honda Racing completes Enduro-X

Calder Park concludes Enduro-X for Smith Brothers Racing.

Smith Brothers Racing press release:

Cairns Coconut Resort Honda Racing Team competed at the final round of the Australian Enduro-x Championships held at Melbourne’s Calder Park Raceway.

It was a one-man band at round two of the Australian Enduro-x Championships. With Todd Smith sidelined after a serious neck injury, it was younger brother Jake Smith who made the journey south to Melbourne. A much larger circuit would be challenging for not only Jake but everyone competing, with the preferred style of racing just on the horizon Jake finished the stacked series injury free and is ready to go fast in the desert.

Jake Smith – “Practice went well for me, I was feeling comfortable on the bike and getting a feel for the track. The track was really fun, it had some up and down sections which made racing interesting. The heat race’s went okay, to be honest I just rode around and raced my own race, I’m pretty disappointed that I didn’t push a lot harder in the heats. My goal for round three was to get through the event injury free which I accomplished, although this style of racing didn’t get to me to the main event which I missed out on by one position. Every competitor is going fast and you really have to put it all on the line to make the main events. All in all I believe it was mission accomplished from a team point of view, we learnt a lot from setting up the truck, working with our mechanics and most importantly we had some fun. I cannot wait to get out of first gear and start going fast, I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.

Todd Smith is recovering well after his serious neck injury at round two of the Australian Enduro-x Championships. Todd’s surgey was extremely successful and will be sidelined for just a few months. There is rumour of Todd being healthy for Australia’s greatest desert race, the 2015 Tatts Finke Desert Race which is set to run on the 6th – 8th of June.
