The weekend proved a busy one for Yamaha riders who competed in a range of events across the country. Despite there being no national events on, Yamaha riders are busy in their preparations for the upcoming MX Nationals and AORC rounds.

Daniel Reardon led the charge with the win in the Pro Open class at the KTM Cup held at Conondale. In his first outing on the CDR Yamaha YZ450F, Reardon looked in good form and won his class as well as the feature event held at the end of the day.

Wade Hunter finished second on his YZ250F in the Pro Lites class with a race win and two second place finishes. Hunter who is returning from injury looked good and has shown he has the speed to mix it up with the more fancied rivals in the MX2 class.

YJR’s Hunter Lawrence claimed the Junior Lites class on his YZ250F with three impressive race wins in his first motocross outing for 2015.

Levi Rogers claimed the win at the opening Central Queensland series event at Gladstone with 1-1-3-1 results in the 9-11 years 85cc class.

The ACT round of the East Coast Motocross championship was over the weekend with the NSW–YJR team of Brendon Walther and Bailey Clancy in attendance. Walther claimed third on his YZ125 and fourth on his YZ250F while Bailey took home third place on his YZ85.

This past weekend saw rounds one and two of the NSW Off-road Championship take place at Bulahdelah with Active8 Yamaha’s Josh Green and Tayla Jones in action.

Saturday was a cross country format with racing taking two and a half hours. Tayla took the lead right from the start pulled a commanding lead by the half way mark. By the finished she had over a three minute lead on her closest competitor and took home a comfortable win.

Round two on Sunday was a sprint format. The day consisted of six sprints on 12-16 minute loop. Jones kept up her fine form from the previous day and took out another class win and her fast pace saw her finish in the top 15 outright.

“I had a great weekend up at Bulahdelah. I was unsure of how I would go going into the event as it was my first off-road on the new Yamaha. I had an awesome start in the cross country on the Saturday and stayed smooth throughout the race and ended up with the outright and class win.

“Sunday was another good day for me. I stayed consistent the whole day and took the win in the Women’s class by 1 minute 20 over Jess Gardiner. I was comparing myself against the pro guys throughout the day to see how I’d be going against them and a couple of times I nearly cracked the top 10 and I ended up 15th outright so I am pretty pumped on that,” Jones explained.

Green finished second on day one after suffering from a flat tyre but bounced back to win on day two in the Pro class.

This weekend will see the final round of the Australian Enduro-X in Melbourne, while the opening round of the Queensland Sunshine State Series is set to go at Roma.
