Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing and Honda Australia are pleased to announce the re-signing of newly-crowned MX2 MX Nationals Champion Ford Dale for the 2013 season.

Realising his potential aboard Honda’s potent CRF250R in 2012, Dale has made the decision to step up to the MX1 class and Honda’s flagship CRF450R, joining former World Champion Ben Townley in a formidable two-pronged attack.

The Sunshine Coast-based rider built his Championship title around a new-found level of maturity and consistency where he won three overall rounds and nine motos.

2012 has been a defining year for the likeable 24-year-old, whose goal is to carry the momentum forward when he contests the 450cc class.

“It’s great to be with Honda for next year,” said Dale. “I love the bike and I am excited to race the new 450 and to be Ben’s teammate.

“I have learnt so much from him this year and it’s really helped my racing.

“Yarrive and the team have been great to work with and I like the environment at Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing.

“I have been practicing on a 450 all year and can’t wait to race one.

“For now though I am just concentrating on the Lites Supercross Championship and I hope I can put my Honda out in front again.”

Tony Hinton from Honda Motorcycles supported Dale’s re-signing and looked forward to following his progress in the MX1 class.

“To support a rider and see them move through the classes is very rewarding for Honda,” said Hinton.

“Ford has learned to race with consistency in 2012 which will help him in the MX1 class and into his future career.

“To have him working alongside Ben Townley in 2013 will only further his progress, I wouldn’t be surprised if the two team mates are challenging each other for the MX1 title next year.”

Dale will be looking to round out his year by replicating his motocross achievements in the upcoming Australian Supercross Championships which begin in Dubbo next month.
