Lawson Bopping proved he and his new CDR Yamaha team are gelling well after taking a third overall at round three of the Monster Energy MX Nationals in Wonthaggi, VIC.

It took just three rounds of racing for Bopping to take his first step onto the MX1 podium, after showing plenty of speed in the opening two rounds.

Bopping put together 2-3-6 moto finishes on the rough and tough circuit, battling with the best throughout the day.

“I’m pumped about today and really happy to stand on the podium for the first time with the CDR team,” Bopping remarked.

“It’s been great working with the team and I feel we are all gelling well and its starting to show in the results.

Bopping explains that he enjoyed being involved in some great battles in every race.

“I also enjoyed racing today as we had some great battles. I like being involved in good racing and it seemed like I was in a great battle every race, so that was cool,” Bopping added.

Team owner and Australian MX legend Craig Dack is excited about Bopping’s recent podium and looks to build on this result in the coming rounds.

“I’m really excited about Lawson getting his first podium for the team and we could see him building to it in the previous rounds,” Dack explained.

“He has amazing raw speed and we are starting to harness it and turn it into results.”

Bopping currently sits fifth overall in the MX1 class standings, 35 points behind leader and CDR Yamaha stable mate Josh Coppins.
