South Australian Brett Metcalfe has reflected on his stunning podium finish at the Monster Energy Cup to conclude his maiden season with Suzuki in the U.S.
The Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider rode to third overall behind Ryan Villopoto and former teammate Ryan Dungey on Saturday night, pocketing $20,000 for his efforts of 4-3-3 results.
“This track was really challenging with the format – three 10-lappers, which was 15 minutes each race basically,” Metcalfe said. “It was a challenging night. This track deteriorated and was very, very technical.
“You had to be on your toes, get three good starts and hold a lot of concentration. I just want to thank everyone for coming out, my team Rockstar Makita Suzuki gave me a great bike, and Dunlop tyres – I had three really good starts, which was key.”
Metcalfe will now turn to the 2012 season, where he has been confirmed as the lone rider for Yoshimura Suzuki on the factory team, however a second rider is still yet to be confirmed.
