Queenslander Ford Dale is in doubt for the Toowoomba round of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals after suffering a knee injury during practice at Murray Bridge in South Australia last weekend.

Dale raced on to an impressive eighth overall despite pain in his knee, scoring 10-6-3-17 results, however scans this week will determine the damage sustained on Sunday.

“I crashed late in practice and have done some damage to me knee,” Dale explained. “I had the Racesafe guys strap it as best they could, but I could feel it popping in and out and when I crashed in the last moto, I heard it pop loudly.

“The results of those scans will determine whether I race the next round or if I require any surgery.”

Serco Yoshimura Yamaha team manager Michael Marty is hoping that Dale’s scans will return positive results for the team.

“Ford had a tough day. He rides and trains as hard as anyone yet can’t seem to catch a break at the moment,” Marty said. “Hopefully the scans will be good and we can have all three guys on the start line at Toowoomba and in good form.”

The Toowoomba round will be staged on Sunday, 22 May in Queensland.
