JDR Motorex KTM’s Matt Moss is putting a disastrous weekend behind him in his search for the Pro Lites title in this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals, not willing to make excuses for his seventh place finish on Sunday.

The talented 22-year-old, poised to be Australia’s next international hopeful with the JDR team in 2012, finished with 7-2-16-10 results at Murray Bridge in South Australia, hampered by bad starts and frustrating falls over the weekend.

Moss had spent much of his time since Raymond Terrace’s third round over in California with JDR’s U.S. operation, however things simply didn’t come together for him in SA.

“I’ve been in America for the last three weeks and I felt like I was riding awesome, but I didn’t ride since Wednesday and I still had a bit of jet lag,” Moss explained.

“No excuses though, it just wasn’t my day after some bad starts and luck today. My team and I will keep working though and I look forward to Toowoomba.”

The result saw Moss’ points lead slashed from 85 to 37 in a weekend swept by Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs.

Top JDR Lites rider at Murray Bridge was Queenslander Brenden Harrison, but he too was frustrated with his overall result in sixth.

“The day wasn’t so good, just got caught up in some crashes at the start of the day and then made a couple of silly mistakes in the afternoon,” Harrison reflected.

“Sixth overall isn’t too bad, but I lost a lot of points in the series and that’s disappointing. I just have to keep chipping away and keep believing in myself.”

Victorian rising star Josh Cachia, the third of the JDR team riders and last year’s Under 19s champion, rounded out the top 10.
