Chad Reed is the hometown favourite for TeamVodafone at tonight's SuperX opener in Newcastle.

Newcastle’s Chad Reed says competing at tonight’s opening round of the 2010 Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, is a lifetime dream of his.

The former world and American champion will debut on a Honda CRF450R for TeamVodafone tonight at Energy Australia Stadium, the first ever time that Super X will enter the homeground of the Newcastle Knights NRL team.

“The fans will be a little biased tonight, so hopefully I can put on a good show for them and have a good time,” Reed said. “I’m so excited to get out there and fly the home colours in front of my home crowd.

“I’m definitely not prepared like I usually would be, but I’m so enthusiastic about this and am having a blast. I remember coming here as a little kid to watch the Knights, so it’s always been a dream to race here.”

Reed impressed on debut for TeamVodafone this afternoon by setting the quickest qualifying lap ahead of Americans Justin Brayton and Josh Hansen.
