New Venum Bud Racing Kawasaki SX1 recruit Luke Clout has detailed a challenging World Supercross Championship (WSX) round in Stockholm on Saturday, where the Australian battled through ultra-rutted conditions to finish 13th overall.

The 31-year-old was an 11th-hour addition to the French team entering the penultimate round, taking Justin Hill’s seat for Sweden and South Africa.

Riders were faced with a technical surface upon arrival at 3Arena, with Clout qualifying seventh in the SX1 division before posting a 13-11-12 scorecard on a weekend where he struggled for comfort.

“I felt like a complete C-grader for most of the day yesterday,” Clout recalled. “The track was crazy – I’ve never ridden a track close to anything like that in my whole life. I had a new bike and set-up, so it was perfect conditions to get used to it all…

“I rode better as the day went on, but I just got beaten up by the track. Onto South Africa and a normal track – thanks to Bud Racing and my mechanic, next round we will be better.”

Also drafted into the Swedish GP was AUSX SX2 runner-up Alex Larwood, with the South Australian joining the Quad Lock Honda organisation and recording 10-7-7 results over the three final format for ninth overall.
