Qualifying and heats rescheduled to take place tomorrow.
Inclement weather has brought an early end to today’s proceedings at the AUSX Adelaide Grand Final, with SX1 qualifying – along with the heat racing for both categories – now set to take place tomorrow.
Rainfall emerged directly after SX2 qualifying – a session that was topped by Ryder Kingsford (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha) ahead of KTM Racing Team’s Byron Dennis and NFAL Honda Racing’s Alex Larwood.
Promoters then made the call to postpone the additional action to tomorrow, saving both the circuit and the machinery from unnecessary wear.
“We’re lucky enough to have a three-day program here, which means we have the freedom to adjust the schedule to ensure the best possible conditions,” AME Group director Adam Bailey told MotoOnline. “The Protraxx team has done an incredible job, and the track is in prime condition.
“We’d rather not destroy it, the riders, and their equipment through muddy conditions unnecessarily by continuing through the rain – instead, we will have an even more jam-packed championship deciding day tomorrow.”
The SX1 division did have a hit out at the fifth Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship round today, with Honda Racing’s Dean Wilson topping free practice, ahead of Monster Energy CDR Yamaha’s Mitchell Harrison and Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki’s Luke Clout.
On-track action will commence at 11:00am (ACDT) tomorrow beginning with SX3 free practice, while the night show starts at 5:30pm.
