SX1 teammate Soubeyras enters under injury cloud.
Multiple left foot fractures have ruled Wilson Todd of the AUSX SX2 finale, while a practice crash on Monday leaves Honda Racing SX1 teammate Cedric Soubeyras set to line up in Adelaide nursing four broken ribs.
Todd sustained the injury during qualifying at the AUSX Open, yet still pushed through to record 10-7 finishes across the dual-final format and retain P5 in the SX2 standings.
However, the team has officially confirmed that the Queenslander will be sidelined for the weekend’s decider in Adelaide, instead prioritising recovery ahead of next year’s Penrite ProMX season.
“Unfortunately, Wilson crashed in qualifying after riding extremely well,” Honda Racing team owner Yarrive Konsky told MotoOnline. “We put in a lot of work between rounds, with his crash resulting in four broken bones in his foot – something we weren’t aware of on the night in Marvel.
“Had we understood the level of injury he had, we would’ve had him sit the night out, but to still finish with a top 10, having four broken bones, shows the level of determination he has and how strong a rider he is.
“He’ll sit out this weekend in Adelaide – we’ll let the foot heal up – and then start motocross preparation next year.”
The 2025 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship hasn’t been smooth sailing for the decorated Honda organisation, with injuries to Brodie Connolly, Tiger Wood, Todd, and Soubeyras prompting Konsky to label this year’s supercross campaign as one of his toughest yet despite Dean Wilson being in line to clinch to SX1 crown.
“This certainly has been my hardest supercross championship for, I think, 20-23 years,” he continued. “Brodie broke his scaphoid before round one, Todd broke his foot, Tiger Wood ruptured his ACL… it’s been a real test for all of us at the team.
“Cedric crashed on Monday and broke four ribs, so he is competing in a lot of pain this weekend with one objective – make enough points to finish second in the SX1 championship.
“To start the series with nine riders, then finish with five, has been a massive challenge. Thankfully, everyone will be okay – Todd’s fractures are clean, Wood is getting surgery next week, and Connolly should be back on the bike in a week, week and a half.”
