Injury sustained during German supercross appearance.
A broken arm has brought an end to SX2 prospect Jayce Cosford’s AUSX Supercross Championship season, the Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha rider sustaining the injury during Stuttgart Supercross qualifying in Germany.
Cosford topped the timesheet in the opening SX2 practice session before being cross-jumped during qualifying later in the event, which resulted in the arm injury.
Returning to Australia for additional scans, it was revealed that he had broken the top of his humerus bone, which draws an early end to what had so far been a successful Boost Mobile AUSX campaign after three rounds.
“I’ve broken the top of my humerus bone, which will unfortunately put me out for the remainder of the AUSX season,” Cosford told MotoOnline. “I lined up for the German supercross – went fastest in practice – and then in qualifying I got cross-jumped and went down.”
It’s a tough blow to what has been a promising supercross season for the Queenslander, who is listed fifth overall in the SX2 category after three rounds. His best result came at Sydney’s third round, where he earned P5 overall.
