Opportunity for fresh faces following Gibbs, Ferguson exit.
KTM Racing Team will maintain a four-rider structure in ProMX for 2026, currently in the process of filling the MX1 seat of the retired Kirk Gibbs and vacated former MX2 rider Noah Ferguson.
The factory organisation expanded to four riders this year after the group parked its GASGAS Racing Team, taking former national champion Gibbs and 250 class prospect Byron Dennis across to KTM.
With the retirement of Gibbs at the end of the outdoor season this year, alongside the surprise exit of Ferguson in recent weeks, KTM Racing Team is understood to be in the final stages of planning for next year. The Austrian manufacturer will also continue to support an MX3 entry.
“2026 is shaping up to be a really exciting year for the KTM Racing Team,” KTM Group Australia motorsport manager Kyle Blunden told MotoOnline. “We’ve had a bit on, but that’s motorsport, and we are preparing to announce our plans in the coming weeks.
“With the retirement of Kirk Gibbs, and of course, the departure of Noah Ferguson, this allows KTM to bring fresh blood and hunger into the mix, and we’re excited to share what that looks like very soon.
“For now, all I can share is that under the KTM Racing Team banner – at the ProMX – we will be fielding two riders in MX1, two in MX2, and continuing to support a rider in MX3. The future is bright and we look forward to sharing more details soon.”
It’s expected that current ProMX MX1 number two Nathan Crawford will continue with KTM for the new season, while MX1 revelation Zac Watson has been heavily linked to the second 450, and Dennis is also likely continuing as part of the 250 class program.
