Round three in Cronulla not part of the American’s select schedule.
Uncertainty has surrounded McElrath’s participation in AUSX, with the 31-year-old also set to defend his SX2 title in the World Supercross Championship (WSX), which features a round clash at the end of November.
It’s unclear whether McElrath will return to the Honda Racing program in Australia for round four of the AUSX championship, which doubles as the high-profile AUSX Open international supercross event taking place in Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on November 22.
“[I’m] bummed I won’t be lining up this weekend in Cronulla for round three of the AUSX championship,” McElrath told MotoOnline. “The team and I were only planning to do select races of the series.
“Cronulla wasn’t one of them, as my sister-in-law and soon-to-be brother-in-law are getting married this weekend. I’m excited to spend some downtime with my family this weekend and then get back to the Australian fans again soon.”
McElrath finished sixth overall at Redcliffe’s season-opener – including victory in one of the finals – before a P5 result at the second round of the double-header currently has the high-profile American ranked fifth in the SX2 standings.
