First race inconsistency impacts AUSX results at Redcliffe.
A rollercoaster opening weekend of AUSX at Redcliffe saw Monster Energy CDR Yamaha’s Aaron Tanti largely impacted by inconsistencies across the first premier class finals on both nights, conceding that he has ‘lost a lot of points’ in the SX1 title chase.
The 29-year-old, who has spent much of 2025 sidelined due to injury, began his weekend in Kayo Stadium by posting the sixth fastest SX1 qualifying time on Saturday, before recording 8-3 results in the dual final format for fourth overall.
Tanti improved to P5 in qualifying on Sunday, before a sequence of incidents led to a lowly 13th place in the opening final. A rebound in race two saw him claim third for P7 overall, leaving the weekend fourth in the standings, 39 points behind series leader Dean Wilson (Quad Lock Honda).
“The first finals were not my friend this weekend – just wrong place, wrong time at moments, and Sunday was mistake on mistake in race one,” Tanti told MotoOnline. “P13 is just not good enough – I’ve lost a lot of points this weekend, and my third place in race two was where I expect to be battling every time.
“Just mistakes let me down, which is defeating, but I haven’t been behind the gate in a long time, and it is absolute chaos out there. Lots of carnage this weekend, so I’m glad to leave here uninjured and still in the fight.
“Dean’s clean-sweep will be tough to overcome, but we’ll keep fighting. Positives are that we had good starts, the speed was there, and I feel good on the bike. We’ll tidy up those opening moments and come back strong in Cronulla.”
It’s a quick turnaround for the five-round Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship, with round three taking place inside Cronulla’s Sharks Stadium in New South Wales on Saturday, October 25.
