MX1 class contender to return to racing after mid-season injuries.
Raceline Husqvarna TDub Racing Team’s Regan Duffy is scheduled to make a return to racing at the final Penrite ProMX round this weekend, with the West Australian MX1 class contender continuing his recovery from a frightening mid-season incident at the Manjimup 15,000 in June.
A fractured T12 vertebra along with a lung contusion after a large impact has kept the 23-year-old on the sidelines for the last three ProMX rounds, with an eighth overall finish at Traralgon’s fourth event his most recent result in the national championship.
After extensive rehabilitation and recovery, Duffy is scheduled to return to the start line for this weekend’s series finale at Queensland Moto Park (QMP), with gate drops targeted ahead of a possible Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) tilt beginning in October.
“As a lot of people saw, I came off in a pretty big way at Manji and ended up fracturing my T12 and got a lung contusion also, and to be honest, it’s been way more difficult than what I was anticipating, recovery-wise,” Duffy said to MotoOnline. “In saying that, riding-wise, it’s not too bad, maybe because I am less focused on it.
“The plan is to line up [at QMP] this weekend, get some gate drops, and show face for the team. I think that’s important for me to be there, and also I’ve really missed it, having been watching from the couch the last little while.”
Treating the 2025 season as a ‘building’ year, Duffy expressed his desire to continue into the upcoming AUSX series, which commences in Redcliffe on October 11 and 12, indicating that lining up for the tighter, technical discipline is the tentative plan.
“I would like to do supercross,” continued Duffy. “My plan is to do it, so we’ve been talking and trying to make a plan on how we’re going to go about that, but yeah, that is my tentative plan at the moment.”
