Challenging round in Canberra after speed shown in early sessions.
After a challenging weekend at Canberra’s sixth round of Penrite ProMX on Sunday, former MX1 class champion Luke Clout has indicated his intention ‘to finish on a high’ as the 2025 championship enters Queensland for the final two rounds.
The 30-year-old posted the fifth-fastest lap time in the Shootout, before a mishap in moto one combined with a tangle with defending champion Kyle Webster (Boost Mobile Honda) in moto two left Clout with 15th overall.
Although an ominous result on the overall round tally, positive signs were evident throughout the round for Clout, who noted this as a plus on what was an otherwise difficult weekend.
“This round was the story of the last few rounds, really,” Clout told MotoOnline afterwards. “We started so solid, then so much stuff happened. I actually felt good on the bike today, felt comfortable, and was riding a bit like myself.
“Washed the front in moto one and had to kick the bike over, then moto two, just one of those unfortunate incidents. [I] came together with another rider and went down pretty hard. Landed on the back of the bike, and I have a lot of road rash on my back and arm, and bent the bike up a lot.”
Identifying the positives on what was a largely tough day, Clout notes that increased comfort on his KX450, as well as a return to his home base of Queensland, may be the ingredients needed to end the ProMX championship on a high.
“Although the results sheet doesn’t show it, I felt pretty good today, and if I can ride on race day like I do during the week, then we’ll get back on the box,” continued Clout. “Two more tries, I want to finish this off on a high and then turn the focus to supercross.”
