South Australian veteran Brett Metcalfe and his GO24 Racing Team have transferred to Kawasaki ahead of the 2024 Penrite ProMX Championship, which could fittingly mark his 24th and final season competing at the professional level.

Metcalfe, who will turn 40 in May, has traded KTM machinery for the new generation KX450, signalling a reunion of sorts with the brand that he spent multiple seasons with during his international career in the US and Canada. And his partnership with Penrite Oil has been extended into the new year.

“I’m heading into my 24th season and it’s likely to be my last year,” Metcalfe told MotoOnline. “It’s all shaping up to be a good year, we’ve got Penrite back on board, which is amazing, so the Penrite Go24 Racing Team continues into year three. The team is growing every year and I’m really proud of it.

“This year we’ve made a pretty big switch and have Kawasaki as a partner for the whole outfit, so it’s a Team Green-sponsored effort. I’m really stoked, obviously I spent a lot of years on Kawasaki in America, and even two years on Kawasaki in Canada. Some of my highlight years have come on Kawasaki, so the opportunity to finish out with them at home in Australia is really exciting. I’ve been loving the bike so far, it’s been a really positive switch for everyone on the team and we’re all super-excited to go racing this year.”

Metcalfe has been a mainstay in Australian motocross since returning home almost a full decade ago in 2016, and has been proactive in supporting the next generation through his GO24 Racing Team program – effectively promoting and encouraging children to ‘Get Outdoors’ on any form of two wheels.
