New Zealand’s Brodie Connolly has suffered a broken ankle while preparing in the US for the upcoming 2023 Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX).

Connolly, 19, headed to America following the final round of the Penrite ProMX Championship at Coolum – where he finished third in the MX2 standings – to commence his preparation for supercross.

The Honda Racing rider will now return home to focus on recovery, however, just over a month remains until the 2023 AUSX season commences at Adelaide on 7 October.

“Unfortunately had a bike malfunction on an upramp a few days ago resulting in a broken ankle, gonna head home for abit and heal up won’t be too long and I’ll be back into it,” Connolly shared.

Connolly was set to join Wilson Todd and defending champion Max Anstie in Yarrive Konsky’s SX2 line-up across the three-round championship for 2023, with no official confirmation yet as to when the number 88 is targeting a return.
