In-form Kawasaki Racing Team rider Romain Febvre has inked a contract extension that will see him remain with the outfit through the 2024 MXGP World Championship.

Febvre has won six MXGP overalls from the last seven rounds in the 2023 season and the 31-year-old is second in the championship standings despite a start collision during qualifying for the Spanish GP in May which prevented him from contesting that event.

The Frenchman joined the team four years ago and scored a world championship silver medal with the squad in 2021, looking to deliver another assault on the title through the 2024 season.

“I’m delighted to continue with Kawasaki, that was of course my first choice!” said Febvre. “We worked hard last winter to develop the brand-new KX450-SR from the KX450 production machine and we have shown with all these podiums how competitive the bike is.

“I want to keep that package for next season. I feel so comfortable on the bike and we have already won six GPs together. I know the bike and the team members, we have a great connection together and to stay on the same bike with the same people is for sure the best way to prepare for another title assault next year.”

Febvre’s next outing in the MXGP World Championship comes at Afyonkarahisar, Turkey on 3 September and he will also represent Team France later this year at Motocross of Nations (MXoN), alongside Tom Vialle (MX2) and Maxime Renaux (Open).
