Long and Wilson bound for Conondale with the Crankt Protein Honda Racing

Team Honda Racing press release:

Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team riders Jay Wilson and Dylan Long are preparing to make the trip from their team’s home in Victoria to the Sunshine Coast, for Round 7 of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals being held at Conondale in Queensland this Sunday July 17.

With the Green Park circuit in Conondale being one of the most natural terrain venues on the MX Nationals calendar, both Long and Wilson are looking forward to racing traditional motocross in Queensland this weekend.

Despite spending the last six months in Victoria to be closer to the team, Wilson still calls the Sunshine state home, and shared that he’s looking forward to having the additional support of family and friends at round seven on Sunday.

“This weekend has come at a good time for me – I’ve been in Victoria for quite a while now so it will be nice to get back home and have my family at the races this Sunday,” Wilson explained.

“These last two weeks I’ve had some more physio on my wrist and I’m working really hard to get it back to 100 per cent. I’m not there yet but we are making progress.

“The track at Conondale is very fast, and it’s sort of ‘old school’ motocross which I enjoy, so this weekend I’ll have another chance to test the wrist out and hopefully take some more steps forward.”

The last time the Motul MX Nationals visited Conondale in 2014, Long was nothing short of a fan favourite being one of the few riders to jump the 140ft fly over, and shared that despite carrying a thumb injury in to round seven, that he’s looking forward to getting back on his bike and seeing what he can do.

“I’ve really been looking forward to Conondale. It’s definitely one of my favourite tracks and I always have a lot of fun every time we visit,” Long said.

“Last round at Nowra I went down and injured my thumb, so in the last two weeks we’ve just been working towards making sure I’m healthy and allowing it some time to heal.

“Even though I haven’t had time on the bike, I am heading to Conondale to go as fast as I can. I managed a solid result in the last moto at Nowra with my injury, so hopefully I can fight through it this weekend too.”

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team will now prepare to head to Conondale in Queensland for round seven of the Motul MX Nationals, being held this Sunday July 17.
