Kale Makeham is set to return to the MX2 category for 2016 with the Proformance Yamaha Maxima Oils Bulk Nutrients team following a mixed single season in the premier class.

The Victorian rider looks forward to the upcoming season with the Proformance team, where he will campaign the favoured Yamaha YZ250F.

“I’m really stoked with the opportunity I’ve been given with the Proformance Yamaha team,” Makeham told MotoOnline.com.au. “They’re an incredibly passionate and professional group of people, they do things right and I think they deserve a lot more credit than they’re given.

“It’s already a great vibe within the team and I couldn’t ask for a better environment or better people to go racing with. I’ve had a couple weeks on the bike and the team do all of their motor and suspension work in-house. Being on a Yamaha is a huge plus.

“The brand has won the MX2 championship for the last three years in a row and it’s the highest selling motocross bike out there as well. So it goes without saying that I’ve got the best possibly equipment under me, great people around me and I think it’s a recipe for success.”

Makeham, runner-up in the 2013 MX Nationals MX2 championship behind Luke Styke, is excited to be returning to the class, admitting he feels he has some unfinished business to attend to.

“It wasn’t really my plan to step back to MX2, but when I got offered this deal, everything clicked and it that was the decision I’ve made,” he added.

“I do feel like I’ve got some unfinished business in that class after finishing runner-up in 2013. It’s definitely my goal next to year to put in a good championship run and be there at every round.”

Makeham will be joined by Lachie Davis and Hugh Mckay for the 2016 season contesting the MX2 and MXD classes respectively.
