NPE Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Matt Moss is feeling comfortable and confident following a win on debut with the Kawasaki squad at the 2016 Coffs Harbour Stadium Motocross event.

After months of testing with his new team, Moss lined up against the likes of new teammate Kade Mosig and former motocross star Tye Simmonds to put his KX450F to the test in a race situation.

“It was the first race for me on the Kawasaki and the track was great,” Moss told MotoOnline.com.au. “Obviously racing the bike is different to testing it and there were some question marks, but overall it was really good and I felt comfortable.”

Following multiple seasons on Showa suspension, the move to the NPE Monster Energy Kawasaki team saw Moss make an exciting switch to KYB components according to Moss.

“It was one of the things they told me I was going to have when we were getting the deal done and I was really excited about it,” said Moss.

“All in all the bike is just unbelievable, the suspension feels really good, we’ve got some minor changes we can improve on, but we definitely have a good base that’s for sure.”

The multi-time MX Nationals champion is eager to regain the number one plate in 2016, placing an emphasis on an improved pre-season program for the new year.

“I’m going to race as much as I can before the first round and I’m doing a lot more training also,” he added. “Every year I feel I’ve come into the season behind because I’ve been riding supercross in America.

“So this year should be a lot better, I think I’m way ahead of where I was last year and it’s only going to get better going into the first round – I really want to get that number one plate back.”

Moss will make his MX Nationals MX1 debut with the NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki team at Horsham’s opening round in Victoria on 3 April.
