Australia’s Daniel McCoy was seriously injured in the second round of the Arenacross UK series at Glasgow over the weekend, currently hospitalised in The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

It’s understood 31-year-old McCoy, who was riding for the MVR-D Husqvarna team, has lower vertebrae damage that is applying pressure to his spinal cord. Surgery is scheduled for this week.

“Thank you everyone for the messages,” McCoy wrote on social media. “For those who don’t know, I had a crash last night, at this stage I have no feeling from the waist down, still waiting on surgeons to confirm what operations will be needed. Will keep everyone updated as news comes.”

A GoFundMe account has been established to assist McCoy in his treatment overseas and possible return home to Australia. Click here to donate via the fundraising website if you are able to now.
