Current MX Nationals MX2 champion Jay Wilson is scheduled to make his first appearance of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship at Jimboomba 2 in Queensland on 21 November upon return from injuries that ruled him out of the Motocross of Nations.

Wilson, 21, was forced to withdraw Team Australia at the MXoN event in France after suffering serious stomach injuries in a European training crash, but has fully recovered for an anticipated supercross return with his title-winning JCR Yamaha outfit.

“I got back on the bike last week, taking it day-by-day at the moment, but the plan is to come back for the last three rounds,” Wilson told MotoOnline.com.au. “I’m getting ready for Jimboomba. I don’t think my fitness is going to be 100 percent, but I can adapt to supercross and riding the motorbike pretty quickly.

“It’s been six or seven weeks since the crash now and I feel strong, feel good, so it’s just a matter of getting my fitness and speed back up to where it should be and we should be good for the last three rounds.

“I jumped straight back into supercross and the first day was to get my timing back because I was quite rusty – I felt like I’d never ridden a motorbike before in my life – but the second day was a lot better and I was heaps more comfortable on the bike. It’s just a matter of doing the basics and keeping on riding. I want to do what we can do and enjoy it.”

With speculation mountain that Wilson has already signed an MX1 deal for 2016 as part of a new-look factory Honda program run in accordance with the Team Honda Racing superbike operation, the Queenslander said his immediate focus is finishing off the supercross season strongly.

“The main thing for me is to get through supercross,” he added. “I want to be back out there for the guys who have supported me this year and got me to where I am, finishing the year off strong for them before we look to next year.”

Last weekend Wilson was one of many headline entries in the annual 24-hour Le Minz Scooterthon on the Gold Coast, partnering with CDR Yamaha’s Australian Supercross SX1 points leader Dan Reardon in ‘Team RACESAFE’ for 10th overall.
