Milner makes it four in a row at A4DE

Yamaha Motor Australia press release:

Yamaha’s Daniel Milner has notched up an amazing fourth consecutive victory at the Australian Four Day Enduro Championship (A4DE), after racing his Yamaha YZ450F into the winner’s circle as the final day wrapped up in Tasmania over the weekend.

The defending champion has again showed his class at the prestigious off road event and has cemented his place as a legend of the sport with a dominating performance that seen him take control of the event right from the very first day on Wednesday and he was never headed.

Milner entered the final day with a comfortable minute lead over his nearest rivals and the US based Victorian needed little more then to finish safely to secure his fourth championship. His domination was no more evident than on day three when he won five of the six special tests which effectively set up his overall victory.

“The week couldn’t have gone much better,” said the elated Milner. “The four day has always been a favourite event of mine and I love riding in Tasmania so I have had my sights set on this race for some time and it’s good to get the win again.

“The event here has been great with a wide variety of conditions that challenged us. There were fast and slow tests, wets and slippery conditions early in the week then dry and near perfect conditions for the final couple of days and we went through some beautiful countryside.

“It’s also been amazing to be reunited with the CDR Yamaha team for this event. I was pumped that CDR and my US team, Am-Pro Yamaha, were able to work together and support me for this event and I can’t thank both teams for their work and co-operation for making this happen.

“Also a huge thank you to Yamaha for not only their support of me but also the event in general. Yamaha Australia continue to be the biggest supporters of off road racing in Australia and every rider here is thankful of their support.

After an injury interrupted start to his debut season in the US, Milner has hit peak form in the last couple of months where he finished second at the International Six Day Enduro (ISDE) in Slovakia and now back on top in Australia at this years’ A4DE.

The last few years has seen Milner establish himself as one of the best enduro riders Australia has produced with success all around the globe. Multi time AORC champion, four time A4DE champion as well as twice runner-up at the ISDE have catapulted Milner into rare air.

CDR Yamaha team mate, Chris Hollis, battled his way to sixth outright and second in the E2 class, behind Milner, on his YZ450F. Hollis started the event strongly, but a finger injury meant he was unable to race at 100% on the final few days.

Still, he showed enormous character to get through the event and maintain his sixth place and keep the Yamaha 1-2 in the E2 class intact.

“Daniel again showed just how good he is,” states CDR Yamaha team owner, Craig Dack. “When we were working with Daniel and Am- Pro Yamaha to set up his US deal, it was extremely important to have Daniel available for this event because he adds real star value yet is so easy and down to earth to work with.

“His performance this week was near faultless and his win was thoroughly deserved. He deserves to be recognized as one of the great Australian off road races.

“It was a tough week for Chris with his finger injury leaving him in survival mode for periods of the event. His form coming in has been sensational and he was riding well enough to challenge Daniel if he remained 100% fit, so it’s a bitter pill for Chris to swallow. But I admire his determination and fight to finish the event and take second in E2.

“I also want to thank the CDR Yamaha staff and team who have been under pump the last couple of weeks, bouncing between supercross and off road. Everyone has put in huge hours and this team is successful because of the dedication of the riders and the staff,” Dack ends.

The A4DE is the final event of the year for the CDR Yamaha Off Road team with preparations already under way for the 2016 season. Standby for further announcements on the coming weeks.
