Double Sherco podium at A4DE

Sherco Australia press release:

Sherco riders shine with podium places at the Australian Four Day Enduro. The stunning terrain of northern Tasmania played host the to 2015 Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE) last week where 223 riders battled the elements, the clock and each other.

The A4DE is considered the mecca of enduro-style racing in Australia with riders spending around six hours on the bike each day and facing a range of special tests staged around open paddocks and through dense bush. The tests set out around the Wynyard area was where this year’s race was won and two Sherco riders stood upon the second step of the podium after the final test.

Jess Gardiner kicked off her A4DE campaign in fine form by claiming the opening day honours. Gardiner remained strong and rode a smart event eventually finishing in second place.

“It was a fun race,” said Gardiner. “The tests were great and quite long. There was a test on day 1 that was so fast I was scared but my Sherco 300SEF-R carried me through in first place for the day which was a nice way to start off. Day 3 was the longest with plenty of time on the bike. I fell off in the final moto on day 4 and got stuck in some mud but other than that I had a great race. I love the four day and although I didn’t get the win this year I definitely had a fun race.”

Tasmanian local Derek Grundy was another Sherco rider to shine at the A4DE. The Masters Class competitor proved age is no barrier with a stunning second place after a final moto battle that brought the house down. Grundy showed the spirit and fitness of a man half his age to power his 300SEF-R across the line in style.

“I’m extremely happy getting through the event unscathed,” said an understated Grundy. “I wasn’t fast enough to win but I gave it a go. The long tests cost me but in saying that, in the tests I liked, I rode well. The bike was magnificent and the final moto was great with a bit of close dicing. I think we got a lot of credit from spectators with the brand and how the Sherco can perform.”
