Australia’s Matt Phillips has extended his E3 championship lead overnight at the GP of Sweden in Enköping by picking up a solid third place finishing behind Sherco rider Matti Seistola from Finland and Frenchman Mathias Bellino, who recorded his first win of the 2014 season.

Bellino finished with a total time of 2h05m40s on his Bel-Ray Husqvarna, which was 27.52s faster than Seistola with Phillips finishing at 2h07m04s. Most importantly, with his teammate and main rival Ivan Cervantes withdrawing after the first test, Phillips has a healthy 19-point margin in the championship fight heading into the next round in Mexico next month.

The E2 class was a carbon copy of Saturday as Pierre Alexandre Renet (Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing) took his fourth win on the trot and also extended his championship lead out to a massive 34-point lead over Johnny Aubert (Beta Factory Team Enduro), who finished second with Red Moto Honda Zan Ardo’s Alex Salvini in third. AORC regular Stefan Granquist who was riding in his home GP improved on his ninth place in round nine by finishing in seventh position.

Eero Remes turned his second place around from yesterday to wrap up a win in the E1 class, as he lead home Christophe Nambotin (KTM Enduro Factory) who won the previous day while Nambotin’s teammate Cristobal Guerrero picked up the final spot on the podium.

In the Women’s championship, Spain’s Laia Sanz proved she was human after all when she suffered her first defeat of the season as UK’s Jane Daniels (Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing) beat her by 1m17s. Making it another third place finish was Aussie rider Jess Gardnier on her Sherco CH Racing machine. Gardiner also picked up two special test wins on the day.

2013 AORC Women’s Champion Emelie Karlsson was fourth. Jemma Wilson unfortunately didn’t take part after sustaining ankle and chest injuries earlier in the round.

The next round of the Maxxis FIM World Enduro Championship will take place on 5-6 July at the GP Acerbis of Mexico in Guanajuato, while the Women’s Championship will have their final round come September in France in Brioude.
