A top five performance at Mount Gambier’s third round of the 2013 Australian Supercross Championship has Honda-mounted privateer eager to impress in the series’ second half.

Potter was a solid second in his heat race and ran inside the top three during the SX-Lites main event, eventually finishing the 15-lap affair in fifth position.

“I was a bit surprised when I placed second in my heat race and that I was able to run in the top three for a number of laps in the final before a couple of mistakes let a couple of riders past,” Potter reflected. “I’m very pleased with fifth place and I hope to go even better at Phillip Island this weekend.

“The weather has been good and I have been able to train, so it will be interesting to see how I fare with another two rounds at the GP.”

Potter had a new race engine built ahead of the South Australia stop on the schedule, and that combined with his comfort around the Mount Gambier circuit made for his most competitive round in the series to date.

“Mount Gambier was a great track,” he added. “And with my new motor built by XPRRACING I was able to actually run up front and really challenge the leaders and I came away as the quickest privateer.

“IEG built a great track layout and the venue was really good for all the spectators who were able to see all the action.

“I’m very happy with my A1 Motorcycles Honda and Chad from XPRRACING has delivered me a motor that I’m sure will keep me moving up in the class.”

Potter currently sits seventh in the Lites standings following three of the six-round journey.
