Williams Event Management has released the 2014 Monster Energy MX Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship, calendar.

Next year’s series will be conducted once again over a 10-round duration, including the scheduled return of Western Australia alongside Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australian events.

As has become the standard in the calendar, a four-week mid-season layoff has once again been scheduled into the 2014 season between rounds five and six.

The MX1 and MX2 class will compete at all 10 rounds, while the MXD Under 19s category will attend eight rounds. Veterans will feature at two events.

“WEM is currently looking at the possibility of running some rounds on the Saturday in an effort to help grow the spectator attendance,” the announcement by WEM managing director Kevin Williams said.

“We will announce the specific class breakdowns for venues in the next 3 weeks, along with the support classes.

“WEM is currently working with the Motocross Commission and will have announcements on the race schedules and formats in the next few weeks.

“We are working hard to have all this finalised by the end of October so people will have plenty of time to prepare for the new season.”

Dropped from the schedule for 2014 are Hervey Bay and Toowoomba, replaced by the series return to Wanneroo and a debut at Gladstone.
