Motorex KTM team manager Rob Twyerould has confidence his combination of Kirk Gibbs and Daniel McCoy will shine come tomorrow’s opening round of the 2013 Terex Australian Supercross Championship.

Gibbs is coming off the back of a breakout rookie MX1 campaign in the MX Nationals, while current ASX number two McCoy has spent the past seven weeks homing his Supercross skills.

Despite a balanced mix of youth and experience, Twyerould is waiting until after this weekend’s opening round in Darwin before making any bold predictions.

“I think it will be great very open field, and hard to predict who’s going to win,” Twyerould said. “To physically get everything turned around and ready for this my guys have done a couple of midnighters so I really want to thank them for their efforts.

“They’ve tested with both boys in the last week and they look good and confident on the bikes so we’re looking forward to the challenge.

“Gibbsy is coming off a Motocross season so fitness won’t be in question and McCoy’s been practicing hard and nobody can question his skill. It’s only after the first night we’ll see which adds up to best preparation.”

McCoy finished second in the 2012 series with three podiums from four rounds, while Gibbs sat out the entire season through injury.
