Pirelli-shod riders have rounded out a dominant season for the brand by claiming a clean sweep of MX1, MX2 and MXD class titles in the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals.

In the MX1 division it was Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Matt Moss who made a triumph return to the 450cc class, edging out fellow Pirelli competitor, Motorex KTM’s Todd Waters, after 10 hard-fought rounds.

Pirelli’s Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 was a leading choice, with the front Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 80/100-21 and rear 120/80-19 factoring in a significant amount of success, and the Scorpion MX Soft 410 and Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 (Mud) also coming into play when warranted by the conditions.

Like the MX1 ranks, the MX2 class also saw a Pirelli one-two overall finish, with Serco Yamaha’s Luke Styke wrapping up the title from standout rookie, KTM’s Kale Makeham.

Pirelli’s Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 factored at the front of the field in the class, with the 110/85-19 rear size compound particularly suited to the four-stroke 250cc machinery.

The brand’s sweep was completed by standout New Zealand MXD talent, the two-stroke KTM-mounted Hamish Harwood.

Harwood took a dominant 51-point class victory with Pirelli’s Scorpion MX tyre beneath him, while the MXD class’ early form rider, Jack Simpson, held on for third.

Pirelli-shod competitors will be back in action at next weekend’s hotly-anticipated Australian Supercross Championship season opener and double-header round at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway.
