GYTR Yamaha’s Joel Dinsdale will be forced to miss the final round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals at Coolum after sustaining a series of fractures to his hand following a crash at Toowoomba last weekend.

The MXD class combatant was in a battle for fourth when he chosen an alternate line to avoid the spray of dirt ahead of him, resulting in contact with a large braking bump one one of the undulating circuit’s challenging downhill sections.

Dinsdale was thrown from his bike, sustaining a broken thumb and some small fractures in his hand which effectively end his rookie MX Nationals campaign a round early.

“That was one of my bigger crashes,” said Dinsale. “I just moved out of the roost into a line I hadn’t used all day and there was a huge bump that kicked me over the handlebars.”

Dinsdale will have surgery on his hand today and expects to be off the bike for up to six weeks.

The talented rider said the season had offered an invaluable learning experience as he made the step from junior to senior, professional ranks.

“I learnt a lot this year about racing and that speed and going fast are only some of the things needed to be a racer,” he continued.

“I can’t thank the GYTR Yamaha team enough for their help and support this year as it’s been a big step up from racing juniors.”

Dinsdale is currently placed sixth on the MXD points ladder, and even though he will miss the final round, is in line to maintain a top eight ranking for the season.
