American Josh Hill will use this year’s Australian Supercross Championship as a platform to build upon when next year’s Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, series commences in January at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium.

Hill confirmed this week that he’ll contest the entire six-round series that commences in Darwin mid-September, riding for the newly-merged Hart and Huntington/InsureMyRide/DPH Motorsports Suzuki outfit.

Fresh from finishing second in last weekends X Games Men’s Moto X final and said he is looking forward lining up against his Australian counterparts at the series opener.

“I’ve watched most of the Australian Supercross races over the past few years on Fuel TV and YouTube so I am familiar with the competition in Australia,” Hill said.

“Doing this series was really important to me in terms of preparation for 2014. I am focused on being as prepared as I can for next years AMA Supercross.

“I am looking forward to hanging out with all the cool Aussie racers that I’ve met in the states. I can’t wait to ride with them and see how they live,” Hill continued.

Kale Wallis from Hart and Huntington Australia said it was a huge coup for the Australian Supercross Championship to have a rider of Hill’s caliber contesting the series.

“The deal to have Josh Hill came about when Kenny Watson the RCH team manager hit me up saying that Hill was super keen to race in Australia,” Wallis explained.

“It was a long road back from injury for Josh but he has been running well inside the top ten in the AMA Supercross and finished second at X Games last weekend. He is definitely getting back to his best.”

The six round Australian Supercross Championship will commence with a double-header at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway on 12-14 September alongside the QBE Australian Superbike Championship.
