Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Monea will enter this weekend’s Swan Hill round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals with the added confidence of clinching the Victorian state title last weekend.

Monea has been in stunning form throughout the 2013 season since stepping up to MX1 aboard the factory KX450F, expected to shine when the nationals reach round eight at Swan Hill for the first time on Sunday.

Outtrim hosted the final round in difficult wet conditions last weekend, in which Monea clinched the title by 52 points from former champion Sam Martin and Alex Norris.

“I was really happy with how I rode in the first race, which I won, but I was pretty disappointed with myself that I didn’t finish the season off with a win,” Monea said.

“All in all it was okay out there, I enjoyed it – I’m happy I got the number one plate for next year.”

The Pro Lites championship was won by another Victorian rising star in Dylan Long ahead of Kade Mosig and Jack Simpson, who claimed victory in the Under 19s.

GMR-Motorex KTM rider Kristy Gillespie again made motocross history by winning her eighth championship in a row in the Ladies class. She took out the title by 17 points over Maddison Brown and Courtney Whyte-Dennis.
