Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Monea will enter this weekend’s Hervey Bay round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals with momentum on his side after scoring victory in Victoria last weekend.

Monea is one of many Australian Motocross Championship regulars to take advantage of state level competition in 2013, contesting Victorian championship rounds between the MX Nationals events.

In trying conditions at Warrnambool last weekend, Monea made it three wins from three rounds in Victoria – a factor that has enabled him to star on a national level so far this season.

After racing at Appin’s sixth MX Nationals rounds a fortnight ago and Warrnambool last weekend, Monea’s schedule will include a series of upcoming races over the next three weeks including Hervey Bay (MXN), Outtrim (VIC) and Swan Hall (MXN).

“I hope to finish as high up as possible in the MX Nationals as I can,” Monea explained. “It was trying conditions with the weather [at Warrnambool] and the weather played a big factor. It was very cold and wet to start off with.

“Everyone was doing their best to stay upright – it was a game of patience [and] riding smart. The first race was a half-hour moto and it was good just to get through that one.

“There was a dry line in the second race, which was a lot better. With a 49 point lead it will take something pretty disastrous to lose the title.

“I’ve ridden Outtrim quite a few times too. I’ve got Hervey Bay of the MX Nationals this weekend, the Victorian championships next weekend and the MX Nationals at Swan Hill the week after.”

Monea currently sits seventh in the Monster Energy MX Nationals standings after six of 10 rounds.
