Pirelli MXD rookie Jesse Dobson is happy with his transition from the Junior ranks into the Monster Energy MX Nationals Australian Motocross Championship to date.

Following the six-week mid-season break, Dobson suffered a tough day at Appin’s round six of the series, but was able to pull it together for a fourth overall finish.

After sampling the Bellbird Circuit’s hard-pack surface twice in moto one, the Queensland native regained his focus for moto two where he capped off the day with a strong second place finish.

“Moto one was a tough one thats for sure,” said Dobson. “I ended up dropping the bike when I was sitting in third at the half way point, but put it down again on the last lap. Moto two I really just remained focused and put some good laps in.”

With the only four rounds remaining of the series, three of which are based in Queensland, Dobson is enjoying the challenge of the MXD class and looks forward to racing on some home soil.

“I’ve learnt a lot in the first half of the series,” he added. “I’m really happy that I took on the challenge of stepping up and didn’t stay in juniors – it’s been awesome”.

Currently sitting third overall in the championship, the Kawasaki rider is flying the flag for the four-stroke contenders behind two-stroke mounted KTM riders Hamish Harwood and Jack Simpson who sit first and second, respectively.
