HSE Motorex KTM Off-Road Team’s Ben Grabham took the overall win at round two of the all-new 2013 WA Desert Tri-Series at Indee Station.

The Indee 500 event, held near Port Hedland in Western Australia, spanned across three days which included one day of prologue on Friday with Saturday and Sunday hosting the race portion of the event.

Grabham took his second win of the series aboard a new 2014 KTM 500 EXC which he had taken delivery of just the night before the event kicked off on 12 July.

“Pretty much another perfect run for us this weekend,” said Grabham. “We raced the new 2014 500EXC this weekend and the thing was unreal to be honest. Just like the previous model, I pretty whacked numbers on it and won races.

“It looks like the motocrosser and they’ve refined a lot of things with the 500 engine and made changes to lighten it up so it now has the nimbleness like the 450.

“I appreciated that because the conditions were a lot tougher than expected – 35-degree temperatures and two 125-kilometre laps of choppy, unforgiving ground, and with a lot of turns it was just that little bit easier to ride.”

Following Grabham across the line was local racer Adam Clay in the runner-up position followed by Motorex KTM Off-Road’s Matt Fish in third. Jehi Willis and Rod Fagotter rounded out the top five.

The 2013 WA Desert Tri-Series will now head to Kumarina Station in Newman for the third and final round from 9-11 August.
