Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont is feeling fresh and ready to go ahead of this weekend’s return of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals Australian Motocross Championship.

Appin’s Bellbird Circuit in New South Wales will play host to the sixth round of the series and also serves as Marmont’s home race as he hails from the nearby Wollongong area.

During the six-week break Marmont enlisted the help of boxing trainer Bill Corbett to step up his training program, a change that the multi-time champion feels has been great for his conditioning.

“It’s been a good break the six weeks,” Marmont told MotoOnline.com.au. “I’ve been able to knuckle down and I’ve got a new trainer who has been helping me out a lot – I feel fresh and ready to go.”

Following a sub-par first half of the 2013 season, Marmont is looking forward to turning his season around this weekend in front of his family and friends.

“I’ve really got no pressure on me because I’m not doing really that well in the series,” he added. “So to go out there and do well at Appin, my home round, is definitely going to kickstart the second half of the campaign for my season.

“Hopefully I’ll do well this weekend, I’ve got a lot of friends and family coming out. I feel like my fitness is really good and I feel like I’ve picked up a lot more strength during the six-week break, so I’m ready to go.”

Marmont currently sits 11th overall in the MX1 championship chase with a season-best finish of fourth overall at the Raymond Terrace season opener.
