Australia’s Dean Ferris is searching for improved results as he hits the mid-point of his 2013 FIM Motocross World Championship MX2 campaign.

Following his standout second overall finish at Qatar’s season opener, the Monster Energy Yamaha rider has put together a mixed bag of results throughout the following 10 rounds.

After the most recent Latvian grand prix at the Kegums circuit last weekend, Ferris admits he is still looking for things to start improving heading into round 12.

“Not the best weekend but it seems like the regular story lately,” said Ferris. “I know this deep into the season it is not good to still be looking for things to improve but anyway what happened on Saturday is part of racing.”

Ferris experienced a mechanical issue in the qualification heat which forced him to take a poor gate pick for Sunday’s opening moto.

“It didn’t give me the best opportunity to get starts but the first moto was terrible and maybe the worst race I have ridden in my life,” he explained. “I was quite good in the second and came from quite far back and was strong.”

Following his 11th overall result on a track where he expects to excel, Ferris is looking ahead and will continue to focus on moving forward.

“We have to keep on moving forward,” he added. “This was my first look at this track and I think it was the roughest we’ve had this year. Normally I should excel on this so I’m a bit disappointed.”

The Queensland native currently sits sixth overall in the MX2 championship standings with just six rounds remaining on the 2013 GP schedule.
