Serco Yamaha’s Luke Clout has sustained a broken left femur today following a practice crash while preparing for this weekend’s Appin round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals series.

Clout confirmed with MotoOnline.com.au tonight that he is currently in hospital awaiting surgery on the broken bone, an unfortunate blow for the 18-year-old talent.

Other than his Serco Yamaha teammate Luke Styke, the MX2 class rookie had been the only rider to earn an overall round win which came at Murray Bridge’s round two.

The New South Wales native sat second overall in the MX2 championship chase after five rounds of racing, 51 points behind teammate and series leader Styke.

Stay tuned to MotoOnline.com.au for more updates on Clout’s recovery and plans for a return when we have them.
