Australia’s Brett Metcalfe has claimed his first-ever Canadian Monster Energy Motocross Nationals overall MX1 at Kamloops’ round two of the series.

Following a solid second overall at round one, the Team Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki rider regrouped and returned to take a 1-1 sweep of the event.

With round one winner Colton Facciotti exiting the event early after suffering mulitple injuries during the first moto, Metcalfe was able to cruise to the overall win.

Although Facciotti bowed out of the event early, Metcalfe had already served notice that he was ready to give last week’s winner a run for his money by logging the fastest MX1 qualifying time.

The first Candadian on the overall podium was Factory KTM’s Tyler Medaglia. The Ottawa native clinched second overall with a strong 2-2 moto scorecard behind Metcalfe.

Occupying the final step on the MX1 podium was Teddy Maier. Maier put together a consistent 3-4 result to round out the premier class podium.

Rounding out the top five was Yamaha-mounted Morgan Burger who used 4-5 results for fourth and former AMA Motocross and Supercross contender Gavin Gracyk who took fifth aboard his KTM with 5-6 moto scores.

Metcalfe’s teammate Austin Politelli nailed down his second consecutive win of the season in MX2. This time the Californian did it with a convincing clean sweep.

Just like round one, the first Canadian on the box was Red Bull/Fox/Royal Distributing/KTM’s Kaven Benoit. Benoit scored 2-2 motos to claim second overall.

Former AMA Motocross and Supercross contender Topher Ingalls landed his RTR Performance Honda on the podium in third place with 4-3 moto results

Rounding out the top five in the MX2 class was Honda-mounted Brad Nauditt with 3-5 moto scores in fourth and Joshua Clark in fifth with his 6-4 scorecard.

The series will now makes its way to Wild Rose MX Park for round three of racing action.
