Monster Energy Yamaha’s Chiara Fontanesi has dominated round two of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship in Slovenia, with Australia’s Meghan Rutledge earning herself another impressive podium position in the series.

Taking place on the circuit of Orehova Vas, Fontanesi avoided a large first corner crash and ran away from the field on the slippery track to add yet another victory to her 2013 world championship campaign.

Chasing Fontanesi in the early stages of the race was HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane. Kane looked eager to catch Fontanesi but despite a strong effort on the opening laps, Kane was unable match the speed of Fontanesi.

Further back, former world champion Stephanie Laier found herself under pressure from Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Rutledge. Rutledge managed to find a way around the Rabbit Racing Kawasaki of Laier to take third place.

With Rutledge securing the third place position, Laier went on to finish fourth in moto one almost forty seconds ahead of Francesca Nocera who rounded out the top five.

Race two saw Fontanesi once again put on a dominant performance, taking the early lead and maintaining the top spot throughout each and every lap of the race.

Improving on her performance in race one, Laier managed to ride a smooth race comfortably in second place to finish twenty seconds ahead of Rutledge in third.

Meanwhile Kane made hard work for herself getting off to a terrible start, despite being outside the top 10 on lap one, she managed to fight her way back to a fourth place finish. Again rounding out the top five in moto two was Nocera.

In the end Fontanesi dominated the round of Slovenia with perfect points while Laier, Rutledge and Natalie Kane tied for second on forty points.

Based on the result of the second race Laier stood on the second step of the podium and Rutledge on the third, leaving Kane to finish fourth ahead of Nocera in fifth.

Fontanesi leads the WMX championship with Australia’s Rutledge sitting 16 points back in second followed by Kane in third, four points behind Rutledge.
