Adam Monea is creeping his way up the Monster Energy MX Nationals MX1 championship points ladder as the series hits its mid-season six-week break.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider suffered a DNF moto finish at Murray Bridge’s round two which affected the MX1 rookie’s overall position greatly.

Monea maintains a positive attitude as he works with way back up the points ladder, with his most recent eighth overall performance at Conondale bumping him up into sixth spot.

“I’m still trying to work off that DNF from round two which really affected my points, so to advance another spot in the series is a real positive,” said Monea.

“I had a crash and some bike issues which caused me to have a bad start in the first moto and I used a fair bit of energy to salvage that first race.

“I got a good start in the second moto and felt like I was giving it all but I think I was a bit drained from the first race and I wasn’t really able to push forward.”

The Victorian remains confident in his ability and plans to work hard over the break and return with strong results to wrap up the 2013 series.

“I’m not disappointed with my results but I know I can do better. I’ll take away the positives like moving forward in the series and put my head down over the break and return strong for the second half of the season.”

The 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals series will resume on 14 July at Appin in New South Wales for round six of the 10 round schedule.
