TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed is pushing forth despite health issues which must be dealt with in order to return to form in his 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, campaign.

Reed, the 2009 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 450 Class champion, is currently scrambling to turn his series around with his best finish to date being a 12th overall at Muddy Creek’s round three.

As the lone rider for his very own Honda-backed outfit, the Australian is pushing himself to stay out on the track in order to fulfil sponsor obligations as he works towards curing his personal problems.

“In a perfect world it would be nice to take two, three weeks off and get healthy and come back,” Reed told PulpMX’s Steve Matthes. “But we’re a single-rider team. We’ve got sponsors to keep happy.

“I’m coming off of a pathetic Supercross season and it’s even worse outdoors. So I’m trying to stay positive, trying to take it week by week and get my head above water.

“I honestly think that it’s not going to be any better next week. Hopefully the week off will allow us to try to get back into a normal program and hopefully have a shot at it after the break. That’s the honest truth.”

Although far from defeated, he admits that he has nothing more to give at this point in time – a frustrating situation for Reed as the media, industry and fans begin to ask for answers.

“It’s just we don’t have anything to give right now,” he explained. “It’s frustrating and it sucks to even talk to the media because it’s just like, what do you say? The honest truth is I don’t have anything to give.

“I got issues. I don’t need to let the world know what my issues are, but there’s issues and we’re dealing with them the best we can. Sure, it’d be nice to have a miracle and have it all fixed overnight but it’s going to take time.”

A concrete timeline for a turn around is impossible to predict, but Reed is hoping to return to the front of the pack after the series takes a short break following High Point’s round four.

“If I had to try to predict when things will start to turn around I think that after the break we’ll start to be back towards the front of the pack,” he added.

Reed currently sits 19th overall in the premier class standings after three of 12 rounds on the 2013 US Motocross schedule.
