Craig Dack’s off-road effort has secured its first ever Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) round win, and the subsequent championship lead, at the hands of Daniel Milner.

Milner streaked away from the field at Corner Inlet on Sunday to win all six sprint tests by a margin of close to one minute.

CDR Yamaha’s first significant success comes in its relative infancy – the decorated Motocross and Supercross championship winners only branched into the new discipline at the start of 2013.

Under Dack’s expert eye, the team has flourished, and round six in Victoria marked a major turning point for the proud owner.

“Having success so early in our venture is a real achievement for us,” said Dack. “I must acknowledge Daniel Milner. He’s a great young guy with a very bright future.

“I also need to thank Daniel’s mechanic, Bryan Fitzgerald, and our second mechanic, Steven Clarke, for all their effort so far.

“We are excited to be ahead in the championship, but we are also very mindful that it’s still early days and must keep our focus going forward.”

For 22-year-old Milner, the first win with CDR Yamaha is a huge confidence booster as it also brings with it the outright points lead.

“I’m super stoked to take my first AORC round win of the season,” said Milner. “I feel it’s a huge achievement to win a round and it’s certainly a good way to take the lead of the championship.

“All-in-all I had a great weekend. I won all six tests, despite stalling it in the first test. It gives me a lot of confidence going into the next rounds at South Australia.

“Hopefully I’ll just keep this momentum going and stay strong and consistent to keep my spot at the top of the leaderboard.”

Milner finished third on the preceding day and leads the Outright AORC standings by 10 points ahead of Chris Hollis.
