CDR Yamaha’s Lawson Bopping is raring to go after a recent trip to the US where he spent nearly four weeks in Southern California refining his craft ahead of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals.

Last year Bopping made his way to the US mid-season and saw great results upon return, clinching his maiden MX1 win at Hervey Bay in Queensland.

Following the official 2013 MX Nationals series launch, Bopping made his way over to work on his speed and intensity in a bid to kick off his 2013 campaign on the right foot at this weekend’s Raymond Terrace opener.

“Last year during the five week break in the calendar I went to the US to try and pick up my speed and intensity,” said Bopping. “I was then able to win the next round after I returned so this time I thought I would go before the season started to ensure I get off on the right foot at round one.

“The chance to ride new and freshly prepared tracks with a bunch of fast riders in Southern California can only be a benefit and I have made some good friends and connections there.”

With a full year of experience under his belt with CDR Yamaha, Bopping has raised his sights for 2013 and is looking to ramp up his program to the next level.

“Last year I was able to win races and rounds as well as qualify well so my aim in 2013 is to build on that and also improve my consistency,” he added. “My speed is competitive but with a deep field this year getting good points in every race will make a difference.”

Bopping will open his 2013 campaign this weekend at the Raymond Terrace season opener alongside new CDR Yamaha teammate Billy Mackenzie.
